About the tracks

New tracks and technical sections in the XCO

While keeping its original route on the Chavannes side, the Olympic Cross-Country (XCO) course evolved strongly this year with new lines and the addition of many technical sections that will allow for some great duels. The playing field is now more challenging for the riders and spectacular for the public. The circuit has 2 loops with 2 ascents and 2 descents almost parallel, it is physically demanding with its variations in altitude, ephemeral Rock Garden, springboards, jumps, roots and rocks… a favorable terrain for athletes with excellent riding skills in the downhill. This redesigned course is therefore ideal for hosting the world’s best mountain bikers and promises an exceptional show in the heart of the resort.

This track will also serve as a base for the Cross-Country Short Track (XCC) events, shorter and more intense with some great duels to be expected, as well as the Cross-Country Relay (XCR), a mixed team event.

A more technical and spectacular track for the Downhill

For the Downhill (DHI), it’s an almost new track that was created this summer. On the slopes of Mont-Chéry, the course offers fast and technical sections, a committed road gap, sequences of root passages and jumps between alpine pastures and wooded terrain… By combining all the ingredients of a committed descent, this trail is physically difficult and it is a great show with a great finish! The latest developments have seduced the pilots who appreciate this varied terrain, favorable to the most offensive ones who know how to take risks. This promises to be a good start for the show at the World Championships in 2022.

A new discipline : E-MTB

Finally, a new route is being developed to host the E-MTB events, which should take over the bottom of the Cross-country track to get more slopes and gradients to allow the riders to make the most of their electric assistance on a technically demanding track.
