L’Equipe TV channel and the UCI visit Les Gets for the TV production

On Wednesday 1st and Thursday 2nd June, the resort of Les Gets welcomed a delegation made up of representatives from the UCI, L’Équipe TV channel and Swiss Timing to prepare the TV production and broadcasting of the UCI MTB World Championships 2022. The objective? To dazzle the audiences while ensuring the safety of the riders.

During the two-day visit, the delegation and the organisers of the Championships walked along the DHI and Cross-country tracks to determine the location of the cameras and TV platforms according to the key and remarkable passages of the tracks and the race constraints.

In total, no less than 23 cameras will be placed along the courses to bring the viewers as close as possible to the athletes.

As the official producer and broadcaster of the 2022 UCI MTB World Championships, L’Équipe TV channel will be broadcasting the event live and programming reports on its channel. The organisers and L’Équipe channel are thinking about enriching the TV production with different and innovative footage.

Another important subject that was discussed was live timing. For these 2022 UCI MTB World Championships, the organising committee has teamed up with Swiss Timing, a sports timing specialist, to manage the live timing of the races. The working group studied the positioning of the intermediate times and the installation of the timing lines on the two courses.

This visit was a very important step for the progress of the project. A good coordination of the technical and TV teams will guarantee beautiful images to all the MTB fans! Other site visits are planned in the coming weeks to finalise the technical installations.
